Investigate the determinants, distribution, and clinical outcomes of diseases to inform patient care and health system policy. Lead surveillance, outbreak response, and prevention strategies, translating evidence into medical practice.
  • • Oversee clinical and public health surveillance, including analysis and reporting.
  • • Investigate outbreaks and diseases to determine risk factors, transmission, severity, and outcomes.
  • • Design and direct clinical and population studies on prevention, diagnostics, and treatment effectiveness.
  • • Develop and evaluate infection prevention policies, care pathways, and clinical guidelines.
  • • Provide expertise in protocol design, instrument development, sampling, and analytic plans.
  • • Conduct clinical and pharmacoepidemiology research using EHR, claims, and registries; present findings.
  • • Advise clinicians, health leaders, and officials on evidence-based decisions.
  • • Supervise epidemiologists, analysts, infection preventionists, and support staff.
  • • Identify and analyze healthcare-associated infection risks and other priority conditions to inform policy and quality improvement.
  • • Teach residents, fellows, students, and staff epidemiology, study design, and infection prevention.
  • • Monitor, investigate, and report notifiable conditions and healthcare-associated events to agencies.
  • • Communicate findings and guidance to clinicians, policy makers, patients, and the public.
  • • Educate healthcare workers and patients on transmission, vaccination, and prevention.
  • • Collaborate on clinical trials and observational studies, including safety monitoring and interim analyses.
  • • Write manuscripts, briefs, and guidelines for peer-reviewed and professional audiences.
  • • Write grant proposals and manage research budgets.
