Description
Determine and adjudicate eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits by interviewing claimants and employers, verifying wages and separation reasons, calculating benefits, and enforcing state and federal UI regulations, while preventing fraud and assisting claimants through the claims and appeals process.
  • • Answer claimants' questions about unemployment benefits, eligibility, payments, and appeals.
  • • Conduct fact-finding interviews with claimants and employers to determine reasons for separation and other eligibility issues.
  • • Explain unemployment insurance laws, rights and responsibilities, application steps, and payment options.
  • • Issue determinations to allow, deny, or modify claims; document findings and notify parties.
  • • Gather, verify, and assess wage records, work history, and identity to establish monetary and non-monetary eligibility.
  • • Verify information with employers and third-party administrators to resolve discrepancies.
  • • Maintain complete case files and prepare required reports and correspondence.
  • • Schedule and conduct adjudication interviews and prepare cases for appeals or hearings.
  • • Calculate weekly benefit amounts and duration based on base-period wages; apply deductions and offsets.
  • • Authorize, release, stop, or adjust benefit payments in the claims system.
  • • Monitor continued eligibility through weekly certifications, work-search records, and availability for work.
  • • Assist claimants in completing initial and continued claims and registering with workforce services.
  • • Refer claimants to reemployment or supportive services in accordance with agency procedures.
  • • Detect, investigate, and refer suspected fraud, overpayments, and identity theft.
  • • Establish and recover overpayments; set up repayment plans and issue required notices.
  • • Provide relevant case information to auditors, appeals officers, and program integrity staff.
  • • Participate in quality assurance reviews and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with state and federal UI regulations.
