Description
Assess and determine eligibility for disability-related benefits and services by reviewing medical, vocational, and financial information; interview applicants, coordinate evaluations, explain rights and requirements, authorize and monitor assistance, and ensure compliance with program regulations.
- • Answer applicants' questions about disability programs, benefits, and claim procedures.
- • Conduct intake and periodic continuing disability reviews to confirm ongoing eligibility.
- • Explain disability criteria, documentation needs, payment methods, appeals, and legal rights.
- • Approve, modify, deny, or terminate disability assistance; refer to other agencies when appropriate.
- • Compile, record, and evaluate medical evidence, functional limitations, work history, and financial data.
- • Interview applicants and collateral sources to gather disability-related information.
- • Verify information with medical providers and employers; request records and consultative exams.
- • Maintain case files and prepare eligibility determinations, summaries, and required reports.
- • Schedule claimants for medical evaluations, hearings, or adjudication interviews.
- • Prepare and process forms for assistive devices, transportation, housing accommodations, or medical services.
- • Refer clients to vocational rehabilitation, job services, or supportive resources per policy.
- • Share pertinent findings with social workers, clinicians, and case managers.
- • Calculate and authorize disability benefit amounts and related subsidies.
- • Monitor payments, work activity, and case milestones throughout the claim.
- • Assist applicants in completing medical, work, and functional capacity forms.
- • Investigate indications of fraud, abuse, or overpayments and coordinate follow-up.
- • Conduct home visits and accessibility or compliance reviews as required.
