Description
Evaluate, determine, and document eligibility for public assistance and benefit programs by interviewing applicants, verifying information, interpreting policy, and authorizing, adjusting, or denying benefits while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality customer service.
  • • Provide applicants clear guidance on program benefits, rights, responsibilities, and claim procedures.
  • • Conduct initial and periodic interviews to establish and re-determine eligibility.
  • • Interpret and apply program policies, regulations, and verification standards.
  • • Authorize, modify, deny, or terminate benefits in accordance with policy; make service referrals as needed.
  • • Collect, verify, and evaluate financial, household, and residency information to determine eligibility.
  • • Investigate discrepancies and gather collateral information to support eligibility decisions.
  • • Verify income, employment, identity, and other factors with third parties and data-matching systems.
  • • Maintain accurate case records and prepare required reports and documentation.
  • • Schedule and conduct adjudication or fact-finding appointments to resolve eligibility issues.
  • • Assist applicants in completing forms and submitting required documentation.
  • • Refer clients to workforce, housing, legal, or community resources per agency guidelines.
  • • Collaborate with social workers and partner agencies while safeguarding confidentiality.
  • • Calculate benefit amounts and authorize payments in eligibility systems.
  • • Monitor benefit issuance and update cases when changes occur.
  • • Educate clients on recertification timelines, change reporting, and program compliance.
  • • Identify potential fraud, overpayments, or abuse and initiate reviews or referrals.
  • • Conduct annual, interim, or special reviews, including home visits when required.
