Provide comprehensive school counseling to promote students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and college/career readiness through counseling, guidance lessons, crisis response, and collaboration with families, staff, and community resources.
  • • Maintain accurate, confidential student counseling records per laws, district policy, and FERPA.
  • • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment during school emergencies.
  • • Promote academic success by building persistence, study skills, and growth mindsets.
  • • Advise on college options, financial aid, CTE, apprenticeships, and career pathways.
  • • Deliver classroom guidance lessons on academic, career, and social-emotional topics.
  • • Conduct follow-up meetings to monitor goals and adjust plans.
  • • Prepare required reports, data summaries, and program evaluations.
  • • Lead orientations and transition programs for new and advancing students.
  • • Assess needs and connect students and families to school and community services.
  • • Teach career skills, including job search, resumes, and interview techniques.
  • • Inform staff and families about available counseling services and supports.
  • • Use occupational, educational, and economic data to guide planning.
  • • Partner with teachers to embed career exploration and work readiness in instruction.
  • • Audit transcripts for graduation requirements and write recommendations.
  • • Guide course and program selection aligned to interests and assessments.
  • • Coordinate prevention and wellness programs on substance use, bullying, and conflict resolution.
  • • Collaborate with 504 and IEP teams to support access, accommodations, and transitions.
  • • Interview students to understand strengths, history, goals, and barriers to learning.
  • • Develop and supervise peer mentoring, mediation, and tutoring programs.
  • • Connect students to internships, job shadows, and work-based learning.
  • • Advise student clubs and activities that promote belonging and leadership.
  • • Confer with families, teachers, administrators, and specialists to address student needs.
  • • Assess interests, aptitudes, and social-emotional skills using multiple measures.
  • • Recognize and report suspected abuse or neglect; coordinate safety supports.
  • • Counsel on course selection, scheduling, study habits, and school adjustment.
  • • Collaborate on schoolwide programs, MTSS supports, and master scheduling inputs.
  • • Observe students and consult with teachers to inform interventions and referrals.
  • • Participate in meetings, professional learning, and committees.
  • • Plan and host college, career, and military exploration events.
  • • Promote positive behavior supports and restorative practices.
  • • Build partnerships with employers and community agencies to expand opportunities.
  • • Coordinate student registration, placement, and course scheduling.
  • • Mentor and supervise counseling interns and support staff.
  • • Provide individual and group counseling for personal, social, and behavioral concerns.
  • • Refer students and families to external mental-health and social services.
