Description
Plan and direct museum exhibitions, overseeing object selection, interpretation, design, loans, and installation. May conduct research, instruction, and public programs to support exhibitions.
  • • Maintain exhibition checklists, object records, and movement logs in collection databases.
  • • Share exhibition content and object information with staff, partners, and the public.
  • • Inspect galleries to ensure display, lighting, security, and environmental standards.
  • • Recruit, train, and supervise exhibition teams, preparators, interns, and volunteers.
  • • Negotiate and manage exhibition loans, couriers, and loan agreements.
  • • Research themes, provenance, and interpretation; develop labels and catalog essays.
  • • Set exhibition schedules, policies, and budgets with leadership.
  • • Cultivate partners, sponsors, and lenders; represent exhibitions at events.
  • • Plan openings, talks, and programs, coordinating logistics and vendors.
  • • Write proposals, grants, catalog texts, wall labels, and marketing copy.
  • • Select objects for display; coordinate condition reporting with registrars and conservators.
  • • Arrange insurance, shipping, and customs for loans and traveling exhibitions.
  • • Specify and oversee exhibition graphics, mounts, interactives, and reproductions.
  • • Lead exhibition design, fabrication, installation, deinstallation, and object handling.
  • • Design and deliver tours, trainings, and educational content for exhibitions.
