Description
Install, repair, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, operating systems, and peripherals; diagnose hardware and software issues, perform upgrades, and support end users on-site or remotely.
  • • Communicate with users to gather details of computer problems and service history.
  • • Reassemble and test computers after repairs or part replacements.
  • • Travel to client sites or user workstations to provide onsite service.
  • • Install, configure, and image operating systems and application software.
  • • Advise users on computer operation, maintenance, security, and best practices.
  • • Test new systems and configurations to ensure proper operation.
  • • Build or upgrade systems to specifications using appropriate tools.
  • • Operate diagnostic software to verify functionality of components and systems.
  • • Maintain service tickets, repair logs, and asset records.
  • • Set up and configure new computers, monitors, and peripherals.
  • • Maintain spare parts and order replacements as needed for repairs.
  • • Install firmware and driver updates; add or replace memory, storage, or other components.
  • • Calibrate and configure displays, input devices, and BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • • Test power supplies, boards, and circuits using multimeters or diagnostic tools.
  • • Repair or replace components such as motherboards, fans, keyboards, and power supplies.
  • • Complete service reports, time tracking, and expense documentation.
  • • Disassemble laptops and desktops to inspect components for damage or wear.
  • • Clean systems, remove dust, and apply thermal compound to maintain cooling.
  • • Deploy software images, scripts, or configurations across multiple systems.
  • • Read manuals, schematics, and configuration guides to determine settings and procedures.
  • • Run and terminate network cables; connect systems to power and network equipment.
  • • Monitor and analyze system performance logs to identify recurring issues.
  • • Remove malware, resolve boot issues, and recover data when possible.
  • • Provide training or guidance to junior technicians or end users.
  • • Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment as required.
