Install, maintain, and repair automated teller machines (ATMs) and related peripherals, diagnosing hardware, software, and network issues; perform upgrades, calibrations, and preventive maintenance while following security protocols and documenting service.
- • Communicate with branch staff or customers to determine details of ATM problems.
- • Reassemble ATM modules after repairs or part replacements.
- • Travel to bank branches, retail sites, or kiosks to service ATMs or provide emergency repairs.
- • Reload ATM software or firmware and adjust configurations to resolve malfunctions.
- • Advise customers on ATM operation, preventive maintenance, and usage best practices.
- • Commission and test new ATMs to ensure they are fully operational.
- • Install and assemble ATMs and enclosures per specifications using hand or power tools.
- • Perform diagnostic transactions to test dispensers, card readers, keypads, and printers.
- • Maintain detailed records of ATM maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
- • Install and configure new ATMs, peripherals, network settings, and security software.
- • Manage parts inventory and order required ATM components.
- • Upgrade existing ATMs with new firmware, EMV readers, or memory modules.
- • Align, adjust, or calibrate dispensers, sensors, and printers according to specifications.
- • Test ATM circuits and components using multimeters, oscilloscopes, or diagnostic software.
- • Repair, adjust, or replace electrical, electronic, or mechanical ATM parts using proper tools or soldering equipment.
- • Complete work orders, service reports, time cards, and expense reports.
- • Disassemble ATM cassettes and modules to inspect belts, gears, bearings, and wiring for wear or defects.
- • Clean, lubricate, or adjust mechanical assemblies to maintain operating efficiency and prevent jams.
- • Use service laptops to load encryption keys or software and to update schematics or configurations.
- • Read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine settings or adjustments.
- • Run data and power cabling and connect ATMs to power sources, networks, and communication lines.
- • Review error logs and performance data to diagnose recurring issues.
- • Replace receipt paper and printer ribbons; clear currency jams and reseat cassettes following security procedures.
- • Train new ATM technicians on service, safety, and documentation practices.
- • Calibrate and verify accuracy of testing instruments and tools.
