Description
Examine, evaluate, and adjudicate applications for U.S. citizenship for compliance with immigration and naturalization laws; conduct interviews and tests, resolve eligibility issues, and document decisions and referrals.
- • Verify payment status and process fee waivers consistent with policy.
- • Warn applicants of penalties for fraud, misrepresentation, or false testimony.
- • Review N-400 applications, A-files, biometrics, and background checks to assess eligibility.
- • Advise applicants and community stakeholders on naturalization requirements, procedures, and rights and responsibilities.
- • Prepare case summaries, adjudication notes, recommendations, and final decisions.
- • Refer suspected fraud, criminal, or security violations to investigative units or law enforcement.
- • Conduct in-person interviews to verify identity, review evidence, and clarify material facts.
- • Approve eligible cases and administer the Oath of Allegiance; issue naturalization certificates.
- • Administer and evaluate English and civics tests for naturalization applicants.
- • Coordinate and conduct naturalization ceremonies in accordance with law and agency policy.
- • Score tests and assess English speaking ability during interviews.
- • Draft and send RFEs, NOIDs, approvals, denials, and appeal or review instructions.
- • Identify complex eligibility issues requiring additional research, holds, or investigation.
- • Stay current on changes to the INA, regulations, policy memoranda, and case law.
- • Support internal quality assurance reviews and external audits of adjudications.
- • Ensure case processing complies with agency SOPs, privacy rules, and records management requirements.
