Description
Administer and evaluate driver licensing applications and examinations to determine eligibility under motor vehicle laws; verify identities and documents, observe and score knowledge and road tests, issue or deny licenses, and maintain records while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • • Evaluate driver license applications and verify identity, residency, and eligibility.
  • • Administer vision screenings and knowledge tests.
  • • Conduct road tests and ensure safety during on-road evaluations.
  • • Score tests and record results in licensing systems.
  • • Observe vehicle operation and control to assess driving competence.
  • • Explain licensing requirements, restrictions, and next steps to applicants.
  • • Issue, renew, or deny licenses and apply restrictions based on findings.
  • • Collect fees and process payments.
  • • Prepare reports, recommendations, and correspondence on licensing decisions and appeals.
  • • Warn applicants of infractions and terminate tests for unsafe actions.
  • • Inspect test vehicles for required documentation and safety equipment.
  • • Report suspected fraud, test irregularities, or legal violations to appropriate authorities.
  • • Confer with law enforcement, medical professionals, or other officials to clarify eligibility or restrictions.
  • • Provide guidance on re-testing, corrective actions, or graduated licensing steps.
  • • Maintain security of test materials, equipment, and personal data.
  • • Stay current on traffic laws, licensing policies, and testing procedures.
