Description
Plan, lead, and coordinate environmental, health, and safety programs to protect people, property, and the environment and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and related regulations.
- • Prepare management reports and dashboards on EHS metrics, trends, and progress.
- • Ensure EHS management systems and software (incident tracking, SDS, audits) support oversight and monitoring.
- • Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to report safety or environmental concerns and seek guidance.
- • Maintain EHS records and documentation, including permits, OSHA logs, training, and investigation files.
- • Consult with legal counsel on complex OSHA, EPA, or state EHS compliance issues.
- • Partner with HR to apply consistent corrective action for violations of EHS policies and rules.
- • Advise leadership and operations on the implementation and performance of EHS programs.
- • Review EHS communications, labels, and signage for regulatory accuracy and clarity (e.g., HazCom/SDS).
- • Deliver and coordinate EHS training on topics such as OSHA, HazCom, RCRA, emergency response, and PPE.
- • Report recordable injuries, releases, and other required notifications to OSHA, EPA, and state or local agencies.
- • Support internal and external EHS audits and regulatory inspections.
- • Monitor EHS controls and management systems to ensure their effectiveness.
- • Identify EHS risks, hazards, and nonconformances requiring follow-up or investigation.
- • Publish and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- • File required EHS reports and submissions, such as OSHA 300A, Tier II, TRI, and air, water, or waste reports.
- • Design and implement improvements in EHS communication, monitoring, and enforcement.
- • Conduct regular EHS inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and field operations.
- • Lead incident, near-miss, and root-cause investigations and track corrective actions to closure.
- • Advise teams on the selection and use of EHS compliance and reporting tools.
- • Conduct environmental compliance audits for air, water, waste, and chemical management programs.
- • Oversee environmental programs, including air and water permitting, tanks, SPCC, stormwater, RCRA waste, recycling, hazardous materials, and emergency preparedness.
- • Evaluate industrial hygiene and environmental monitoring plans, sampling methods, and testing procedures.
- • Update EHS policies and SOPs to reflect changes in regulations or standards (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO 14001/45001).
- • Communicate emerging EHS issues, risks, and regulatory changes to management and employees.
- • Verify that EHS regulatory requirements are documented, implemented, and communicated across the organization.
- • Stay current on EHS regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
- • Lead the development and rollout of EHS programs and procedures across sites or business units.
- • Develop risk reduction strategies based on EHS risk assessments, inspections, and incident trends.
- • Oversee EHS reporting systems for incidents, hazards, near-misses, and employee suggestions.
