Description
Associate Professor who teaches undergraduate and graduate chemistry on the chemical and physical properties of substances and methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis; leads an independent, externally funded research program; mentors students and junior scholars; and provides service and leadership to the department and university.
- • Prepare and deliver lectures in organic, analytical, and separation chemistry.
- • Supervise and assess students' laboratory work.
- • Develop, administer, and grade exams and assignments, delegating when appropriate.
- • Evaluate and record students' performance and maintain required academic records.
- • Prepare syllabi, lab manuals, assignments, and other course materials.
- • Hold regular office hours to advise and assist students.
- • Lead curriculum development and revise course content and pedagogy.
- • Supervise undergraduate researchers, graduate students, and teaching assistants.
- • Mentor students on academic planning, research skills, and career pathways.
- • Initiate and moderate inclusive classroom discussions.

- • Serve on and often lead departmental, college, and university committees.
- • Participate in faculty hiring, promotion, and tenure review processes.
- • Recruit, advise, and place graduate students and postdocs.
- • Prepare and submit instructional, research, and compliance reports.
- • Oversee laboratory safety training and enforce chemical hygiene and EHS policies.
- • Select, purchase, and maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
- • Manage research budgets and maintain lab inventories.
- • Provide professional consulting or partnership services to industry or government.
- • Engage in outreach, campus, and community events.
- • Contribute to professional societies, editorial boards, and peer review.
- • Write letters of recommendation for students and trainees.
- • Mentor junior faculty and support teaching and research development.
- • Oversee laboratory facilities and coordinate maintenance with technical staff.
