Description
Teach assigned undergraduate chemistry courses as a part-time adjunct, focusing on the chemical and physical properties of matter and methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Develop and deliver instruction, assess learning, maintain accurate records, and ensure a safe laboratory environment in alignment with departmental standards and institutional policies.
  • • Prepare and deliver lectures and class activities for assigned chemistry courses.
  • • Supervise and coach students during laboratory sessions.
  • • Evaluate and grade coursework, labs, exams, and assignments with timely feedback.
  • • Create, administer, proctor, and grade examinations.
  • • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required records in the LMS.
  • • Prepare syllabi, schedules, homework, and learning materials aligned to departmental outcomes.
  • • Hold regular office hours and provide course-related advising.
  • • Align course content and assessments with departmental curricula; suggest revisions as needed.
  • • Mentor and oversee teaching or lab assistants when assigned.
  • • Stay current in chemistry and evidence-based teaching practices.
  • • Facilitate inclusive, engaging classroom and online discussions.
  • • Uphold academic integrity and report incidents per policy.
  • • Provide guidance on academic pathways and careers; refer students to advisors when appropriate.
  • • Collaborate with course leads, lab managers, and colleagues on instruction and assessment.
  • • Attend required orientations, trainings, and adjunct meetings.
  • • Support student recruitment or outreach activities as assigned.
  • • Submit grades and required instructional reports by deadlines.
  • • Comply with institutional policies, accessibility requirements, and FERPA.
  • • Establish, teach, and enforce laboratory safety rules and chemical hygiene.
  • • Ensure proper use of chemicals, PPE, and equipment; report hazards and incidents.
  • • Request or coordinate needed instructional materials and lab preparations.
  • • Participate in limited departmental service or committees when required.
  • • Write letters of recommendation for students upon request.
  • • Curate supplementary readings and resources for outside study.
  • • Communicate promptly with students via approved channels and LMS.
  • • Maintain an orderly classroom and ensure lab cleanup after sessions.
