Description
Assist chemical engineers by running laboratory and pilot-plant experiments, operating unit operations, and analyzing process data to develop, optimize, and scale chemical processes and products while supporting quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
- • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot unit operations such as reactors, distillation, filtration, and heat exchange equipment.
- • Execute lab and pilot-plant experiments and trials according to run plans and SOPs.
- • Collect, analyze, and interpret process data, including yields, mass/energy balances, and KPIs.
- • Use chromatography, spectroscopy, and other analytical methods to monitor process performance and product quality.
- • Prepare and standardize reagents, feedstocks, and calibration standards.
- • Assist with experimental design and DOE execution for process optimization.
- • Support process scale-up and technology transfer from lab to pilot or production.
- • Monitor and control process variables via DCS, PLC, or laboratory controllers.
- • Calibrate, maintain, and clean process instruments, sensors, and laboratory equipment.
- • Compile technical reports, charts, and dashboards to document results and recommendations.
- • Implement and maintain quality control sampling and analysis programs to meet specifications.
- • Investigate process deviations and assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- • Fabricate or modify test rigs, fixtures, or pilot skids for development work.
- • Maintain P&IDs, batch records, logs, and equipment documentation.
- • Order, stage, and inventory raw materials, gases, and consumables.
- • Promote a safe work environment through hazard assessments, audits, and training.
