Description
Perform technical inspections of aircraft, maintenance practices, navigation aids, air traffic control systems, and communications equipment to verify compliance with federal safety regulations and organizational standards, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • • Audit work of aircraft maintainers on airframes, powerplants, and systems for compliance with standards and procedures.
  • • Run up aircraft or systems and monitor instruments to detect malfunctions.
  • • Verify security and integrity of access panels, doors, and fasteners.
  • • Inspect landing gear, tires, fuselage, wings, and engines for damage, corrosion, and needed repairs.
  • • Maintain detailed inspection, repair, investigation, and certification records and reports.
  • • Examine new, repaired, or modified aircraft to assess airworthiness and conformity using checklists, tools, and test equipment.
  • • Review maintenance records and flight logs to confirm required checks and overhauls were completed on schedule.
  • • Recommend equipment replacement, repair, or modification to address deficiencies.
  • • Advise on updates to policies, standards, and procedures based on technical findings and operational trends.
  • • Assist in investigations of incidents, accidents, and complaints to determine causes.
  • • Plan or oversee functional and flight tests of equipment, instruments, and systems under varied conditions.
  • • Support approval or denial of airworthiness certifications by providing technical evaluations.
  • • Evaluate training programs and administer exams to verify competency of personnel installing, operating, or repairing aircraft equipment.
