Description
Inspect aircraft and aeronautical product manufacturing operations, production quality systems, and conformity to type design to ensure compliance with Federal aviation safety regulations.
  • • Inspect production facilities, processes, and quality systems for compliance with regulations and approved procedures.
  • • Perform conformity inspections of parts, assemblies, and completed aircraft to verify compliance with type design and specifications.
  • • Review manufacturing, inspection, and test records for accuracy, traceability, and completion.
  • • Evaluate supplier control, special processes, tooling, and calibration systems for adequacy and effectiveness.
  • • Approve or deny issuance of production and airworthiness approvals for new products and articles.
  • • Oversee and evaluate manufacturer designees and ODA units performing inspections and approvals.
  • • Assess and monitor corrective actions for nonconformances, escapes, and quality system deficiencies.
  • • Investigate manufacturing defects, unapproved parts, and safety complaints, and initiate corrective or enforcement actions.
  • • Evaluate production inspection, test, and flight acceptance procedures for adequacy and safety.
  • • Verify configuration control, part marking, and data management to ensure product identity and conformity.
  • • Analyze training and qualification programs for production and inspection personnel and evaluate competency.
  • • Recommend changes to policies, procedures, or regulations based on manufacturing findings and industry developments.
  • • Prepare and maintain detailed surveillance, inspection, conformity, investigation, and certification records and reports.
