Description
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in an academic discipline; develop curricula; advise students; and conduct original research and scholarship. Includes faculty primarily engaged in teaching as well as those who combine teaching, research, and institutional service.
  • • Evaluate and grade students' coursework, projects, exams, and papers.
  • • Explain and demonstrate discipline-specific concepts, methods, and techniques.
  • • Prepare students for exams, assessments, presentations, and professional standards.
  • • Prepare and deliver undergraduate and graduate lectures, seminars, and labs.
  • • Organize and lead research groups, labs, seminars, or project teams.
  • • Develop course materials, including syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and online content.
  • • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom and online discussions.
  • • Stay current in the field through literature, collaboration, and professional conferences.
  • • Advise students on academic pathways, research opportunities, and careers.
  • • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and required documentation.
  • • Conduct original research or scholarship and publish in peer-reviewed outlets.
  • • Supervise undergraduate and graduate teaching, internships, theses, and research.
  • • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, learning outcomes, and instructional methods.
  • • Hold regular office hours to advise and assist students.
  • • Design, administer, and grade assessments, or oversee this work.
  • • Participate in student recruitment, admissions, orientation, and placement.
  • • Select and obtain instructional materials, textbooks, software, and equipment.
  • • Collaborate with colleagues on teaching, research, and service initiatives.
  • • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

  • • Compile and share bibliographies and resources for outside reading and research.
