Description
Part-time faculty who teach undergraduate or graduate courses in visual art, drama, and music. Develop and deliver instruction, prepare students for performances and critiques, assess learning, and manage course administration in alignment with departmental standards. Role emphasizes teaching with limited service and research expectations and may include directing rehearsals, ensembles, productions, or exhibitions.
  • • Teach assigned courses, studios, labs, or ensembles in art, drama, or music.
  • • Prepare and deliver lectures, demonstrations, and applied lessons.
  • • Explain and model artistic techniques and safe studio practices.
  • • Develop syllabi, schedules, assignments, and rubrics per department guidelines.
  • • Use the learning management system to post materials, communicate, and record grades.
  • • Evaluate and grade performances, projects, papers, and exams.
  • • Compile, administer, and grade quizzes, juries, and performance assessments.
  • • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required records.
  • • Hold limited, scheduled office hours in person or online.
  • • Initiate and facilitate critiques, rehearsals, and classroom discussions.
  • • Prepare students for performances, exhibitions, auditions, or portfolio reviews.
  • • Organize and direct rehearsals or studio sessions for assigned productions or ensembles.
  • • Select and obtain textbooks, scores, scripts, supplies, and performance pieces.
  • • Display or coordinate student work in recitals, galleries, or showcases.
  • • Keep students informed about relevant campus and community events.
  • • Provide basic academic and career guidance and refer students to resources.
  • • Supervise student practica, ensembles, productions, or studio exhibitions as assigned.
  • • Plan, evaluate, and refine course content and instructional methods based on outcomes and feedback.
  • • Stay current with disciplinary practices and pedagogy through professional engagement.
  • • Coordinate with course leads and colleagues to ensure alignment across sections.
  • • Attend required orientations, trainings, and department meetings.
  • • Assist with auditions, juries, portfolio reviews, and occasional recruitment events.
  • • Assess and report student learning outcomes and submit required documentation on time.
  • • Adhere to institutional policies and deadlines, including FERPA and accessibility requirements.
  • • Ensure proper use and basic upkeep of studios, instruments, and equipment; report maintenance needs.
