Teach adults in secondary-level subjects to earn a high school diploma or equivalency (e.g., GED/HiSET), build academic competencies, and transition to postsecondary education, training, or employment.
  • • Differentiate instruction and materials to meet diverse adult learners’ needs and goals.
  • • Monitor and evaluate student work and progress; provide actionable feedback.
  • • Plan balanced lessons with instruction, practice, and inquiry-based activities.
  • • Teach individuals and groups using lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and blended learning.
  • • Maintain accurate student records in compliance with program and state requirements.

  • • Collaborate with counselors, case managers, and support staff on student progress.
  • • Engage in ongoing professional development and certification as required.
  • • Prepare lesson plans and maintain evidence of instructional planning.
  • • Compile required reports on attendance, progress, testing, and outcomes.
  • • Select and manage textbooks, digital resources, and test-prep materials.
  • • Co-develop instructional programs and transition services with staff and partners.
  • • Support outreach, community awareness, and student recruitment activities.
  • • Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees.
  • • Organize class projects, field trips, college and career events, and guest speakers.
  • • Advise students on internships, training programs, employers, and job placement services.
  • • Schedule classes and testing sessions to maximize access and attendance.
  • • Provide accommodations and assistive technology for students with disabilities.
  • • Train, supervise, and support tutors and volunteer classroom aides.
  • • Partner with community organizations and employers to create learning and work-based opportunities.
  • • Observe and provide feedback on the instructional practices of other instructors.
