Teach adults foundational reading, writing, and basic numeracy; assess skills; deliver individualized and group instruction; monitor progress; and build functional, workplace, and digital literacy to support advancement and, when appropriate, high school equivalency readiness.
- • Adapt teaching methods and materials to learners’ literacy levels, goals, and learning styles.
- • Observe and evaluate student work to measure progress and guide improvement.
- • Plan balanced lessons combining direct instruction, guided practice, and real-life literacy tasks.
- • Instruct individuals and groups in phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing strategies.
- • Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and progress records per program policies.
- • Prepare classrooms and materials, including leveled texts and multisensory tools.

- • Compile reports on enrollment, attendance, progress, and outcomes.
- • Select, order, and distribute leveled readers, workbooks, and supplies.
- • Co-develop instructional resources with other instructors and staff.
- • Support outreach, orientation events, and learner recruitment.
- • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- • Organize literacy projects, guest speakers, and field experiences such as library visits.
- • Provide basic career exploration and job-readiness literacy support.
- • Schedule classes and tutoring sessions to maximize access and attendance.
- • Ensure accessibility and provide accommodations for learners with disabilities.
- • Train, supervise, and support volunteer tutors and peer mentors.
