Description
Plan, direct, and coordinate warehouse operations for receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. Oversee staff, safety, inventory accuracy, facility and equipment, and continuous improvement to meet service, cost, and quality goals.
- • Supervise daily receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and returns activities.
- • Plan, implement, and enforce warehouse safety and security programs compliant with OSHA and company policies.
- • Inspect warehouse facilities, racking, docks, and material-handling equipment; schedule maintenance and repairs.
- • Plan and allocate labor, shifts, and work assignments to meet volume and service targets.
- • Collaborate with sales, customer service, procurement, and transportation to coordinate orders and shipments.
- • Analyze warehouse workflows, layout, and slotting to reduce cost and improve throughput.
- • Resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies, damages, carrier pickups, or customer order problems.
- • Develop, document, and train staff on SOPs and emergency procedures for all warehouse processes.
- • Monitor compliance with policies, safety rules, environmental requirements, and union agreements where applicable.
- • Evaluate financial impact of changes to layout, equipment, staffing models, or processes.
- • Monitor inventory levels, accuracy, and aging; oversee cycle counts and reconciliation.
- • Establish and track KPIs such as dock-to-stock, order accuracy, on-time ship, and labor productivity.
- • Prepare, manage, and forecast the warehouse operating budget.
- • Ensure shipping, receiving, hazmat, and import/export documentation (as applicable) meet regulatory requirements.
- • Recommend changes to staffing plans, shift schedules, space utilization, or service fees for 3PL operations when relevant.
- • Recruit, interview, hire, and train warehouse associates and supervisors.
- • Provide cost and accessorial information to sales, billing, or customers for quotes and invoicing.
- • Analyze spend and operating data to develop plans to improve margins and service levels.
- • Coordinate with production, planning, quality, and purchasing to align material flows and priorities.
- • Implement customer-specific requirements for labeling, packaging, EDI/ASN, and reporting.
- • Maintain metrics dashboards, WMS data integrity, process documentation, and training and safety records.
- • Verify bills of lading, packing lists, and customs documents for accuracy and compliance.
- • Implement energy- and waste-reduction initiatives, such as LED lighting, optimized travel paths, and idle-time controls.
- • Evaluate and manage vendors and service providers, including staffing agencies, equipment maintenance, and carriers.
- • Negotiate service levels, pricing, and pickup/delivery schedules with carriers and key suppliers.
- • Plan and execute facility changes, racking projects, or equipment purchases to expand capacity.
- • Direct quality and safety performance for inbound and outbound warehouse operations.
- • Lead continuous improvement, 5S, and lean initiatives across warehouse processes.
- • Recommend and justify capital expenditures for material-handling equipment, automation, or facility upgrades.
- • Review order forecasts, work orders, and historical volumes to plan labor and release waves.
