Description
Prepare and review tax returns and advise individuals and small businesses on compliance and tax planning.
- • Compute taxes due or refunds using tax software and complete required forms per current tax rules.
- • Prepare and review simple to complex federal and state returns for individuals and small businesses.
- • Apply appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to minimize tax liability and ensure compliance.
- • Interview clients to gather data on income, deductions, credits, and life events affecting taxes.
- • Analyze financial records to determine filing requirements, schedules, and disclosures.
- • Advise clients on proper documentation, recordkeeping, and filing procedures.
- • Research federal, state, and local tax laws to resolve complex or unusual issues.
- • Prepare responses to IRS and state notices and support audits or examinations.
- • Review and quality-check returns prepared by others for accuracy and completeness.
- • Answer client questions and deliver proactive tax planning and estimated tax strategies.
- • Explain applicable federal and state tax rules to individuals and small business owners.
- • Schedule and manage client engagements, e-file submissions, and filing deadlines.
