Description
Prepare and review individual and small-business tax returns, deliver tax planning guidance, and ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- • Compute tax liabilities and refunds using tax software; complete and e-file required forms.
- • Prepare and review simple to complex returns for individuals and small businesses.
- • Apply appropriate adjustments, deductions, credits, and elections to minimize tax legally.
- • Interview clients to gather income, expense, and allowance details.
- • Examine financial statements, receipts, and other records to determine needed forms and schedules.
- • Provide instructions and advice to ensure accurate document collection and form completion.
- • Research federal, state, and local tax law to resolve atypical or complex return issues.
- • Estimate and invoice preparation fees based on return complexity and processing time.
- • Verify data entry and totals on returns prepared by self or others; correct errors.
- • Answer client questions and provide proactive tax planning recommendations.
