Description
Pack and prepare customer orders for shipment by selecting appropriate materials, verifying item accuracy and condition, sealing, labeling, and staging packages for carrier pickup. May pick items, scan barcodes, update warehouse systems, weigh and measure parcels, and operate packing and material-handling equipment. May process returns and maintain a clean, safe packing area.
  • • Complete packing slips and shipping documentation.
  • • Pick merchandise from bins or shelves for packing.
  • • Read pick tickets to confirm item numbers, sizes, colors, and quantities.
  • • Pack items securely using appropriate materials; unpack returns as needed.
  • • Stage packed orders in designated, organized shipping areas.
  • • Inspect items and packaging for defects or damage; report issues.
  • • Communicate order discrepancies to supervisors or customer service.
  • • Count picked items to verify order accuracy and record in the system.
  • • Attach shipping labels, packing lists, and handling labels to packages.
  • • Replenish packing stations with boxes, dunnage, and supplies.
  • • Compare picked items to orders or invoices to ensure correct shipment.
  • • Weigh and measure packages to determine postage or carrier class.
  • • Move packed orders to the shipping dock or carrier pickup area.
  • • Label pallets and totes for shipment or staging.
  • • Monitor and replenish packing materials; request reorders as needed.
  • • Distribute packed orders to shipping teams or carriers per schedule.
  • • Assist and guide new packers or seasonal staff.
  • • Keep packing area, tables, and aisles clean and free of debris.
  • • Assemble custom boxes or inserts to protect products.
  • • Pack customer orders in boxes, mailers, or bags.
  • • Segregate and process damaged or defective items per policy.
  • • Maintain packing tools and equipment; follow safety procedures.
  • • Flag excess or obsolete inventory to supervisors.
  • • Record packed order counts, damages, and packaging usage.
  • • Maintain logs of outbound shipments.
  • • Confirm system-rated shipping costs as needed.
  • • Request replenishment of packaging materials based on usage and space.
  • • Select proper packaging methods based on item fragility, weight, and carrier requirements.
  • • Operate pallet jacks, shrink-wrap machines, or forklifts if certified.
  • • Receive, open, and verify returned items for repacking or disposition.
