Description
Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community recreation programs and facility operations. Oversee staff, budgets, risk management, and partnerships to provide safe, inclusive, and engaging activities that meet diverse community needs.
  • • Establish and enforce facility policies, risk management practices, and safety standards.
  • • Plan and oversee a comprehensive portfolio of programs in arts, athletics, camps, aquatics, and special interests.
  • • Direct daily operations of recreation centers, parks, and program sites to ensure service quality.
  • • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; monitor revenues and expenditures.
  • • Ensure emergency action plans, first-aid readiness, and staff certifications; respond to critical incidents.
  • • Set customer service standards and participant onboarding procedures.
  • • Approve curricula, lesson plans, and safety guidelines; ensure instructional quality.
  • • Lead program and facility evaluations using KPIs, surveys, and participation data.
  • • Approve timesheets, staffing schedules, and inventory controls; optimize resource use.
  • • Resolve escalated participant concerns and incident reports.
  • • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff and volunteers; assign duties.
  • • Build partnerships with schools, community groups, and agencies to expand access and resources.
  • • Develop facility schedules and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and capital projects.
  • • Produce and oversee signature events and specialty programs.
  • • Lead staff meetings and trainings; communicate policies and address operational issues.
  • • Coordinate logistics, permits, vendors, and equipment for programs and events.
  • • Implement inclusive outreach and adaptive programs for seniors, youth, and people with disabilities.
  • • Establish transportation and field trip policies; approve itineraries and risk controls.
  • • Conduct community needs assessments and use findings to guide program design and resource allocation.
  • • Define program objectives and outcome measures; track results and prepare reports.
  • • Ensure regulatory compliance, including ADA, child safety, and aquatic standards.
  • • Oversee procurement and contracts for supplies, services, and equipment.
  • • Develop marketing, communications, and promotional strategies to drive participation.
  • • Serve as liaison to department leadership, boards, and instructors; prepare presentations and reports.
