Description
Plan, coordinate, and oversee recreation programs and events for community, private, or volunteer organizations. Schedule, promote, and support activities—including arts and crafts, sports, games, music, drama, social events, camping, and hobbies—tailored to participants' needs and interests while ensuring safe, well-run facilities.
  • • Implement and enforce facility and program rules to maintain safety and compliance.
  • • Plan, coordinate, and lead recreational activities across arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, and hobbies.
  • • Coordinate day-to-day operations of recreation programs and facilities.
  • • Administer first aid per procedures and contact emergency services when needed.
  • • Welcome participants, orient them to programs and rules, and encourage participation.
  • • Explain activity principles, techniques, and safety procedures; demonstrate equipment use.
  • • Monitor and evaluate programs, facilities, and services; collect feedback and recommend improvements.
  • • Maintain attendance, scheduling, and inventory records.
  • • Address participant concerns and resolve issues in coordination with management.
  • • Schedule, train, and coordinate staff and volunteers; assign work duties.
  • • Collaborate with agency personnel and community organizations to plan balanced programs.
  • • Schedule facility use and coordinate custodial and maintenance needs.
  • • Coordinate and direct special events and program areas (e.g., aquatics, gymnastics, performing arts).
  • • Meet with staff to review rules, procedures, and work-related issues.
  • • Arrange entertainment, equipment, supplies, and decorations for events.
  • • Encourage participant leadership and peer-led activities through group discussions.
  • • Serve as liaison between administrators, instructors, and community partners.
  • • Evaluate staff and volunteer performance and document evaluations.
  • • Coordinate purchasing and upkeep of recreation equipment and spaces; assist with facility planning.
  • • Coordinate or conduct in-room activities for residents in residential settings.
  • • Plan and lead community outings and trips.
  • • Assess individual and group needs and interests and plan activities within available resources.
  • • Track and document participant engagement and progress toward program goals.
  • • Develop activity plans and goals based on participant assessments.
