Set and arrange text and related graphics into accurate, readable layouts for print or digital publication, applying typographic standards and proofing for errors. Includes digital typesetting and page composition; may prepare print-ready files.
  • • Enter, store, and retrieve content using computer-aided typesetting and layout software.
  • • Enter, style, and size text to compose pages for print or digital output.
  • • Select and apply fonts, kerning, leading, and spacing to meet design and readability standards.
  • • Apply paragraph and character styles; control hyphenation, justification, widows, and orphans.
  • • Flow, paginate, and balance multi-page documents, tables, and captions.
  • • Import manuscripts and graphics; clean and normalize formatting to match templates.
  • • Scale and position images and graphics; verify resolution, color mode, and cropping.
  • • Proofread and perform quality control of text, styles, and images.
  • • Generate soft or hard proofs and adjust layouts based on feedback.
  • • Perform preflight checks for fonts, links, bleeds, and image specs before delivery.
  • • Export print-ready PDFs and package files with required fonts and assets.
  • • Maintain font libraries, templates, and style guides; troubleshoot basic software issues.
  • • Ensure typographic hierarchy, consistency, and accessibility across layouts.
  • • Collaborate with designers, editors, and printers to resolve layout or specification issues.
  • • Archive and version control files to meet production workflows and deadlines.
