Description
Prepare and proof digital artwork, text, and images from designers and clients into production-ready layouts for print and digital media. Includes digital typesetting, color correction, and file preparation; may output proofs and printing plates.
  • • Enter, store, and retrieve digital assets and job data in production systems.
  • • Enter, position, and adjust text and images using layout software to build pages.
  • • Maintain, calibrate, and clean graphic arts equipment; perform minor repairs.
  • • Operate RIPs, digital printers, and plate-making devices to output proofs and plates.
  • • Inspect and retouch images to correct defects, color, tone, and resolution before output.
  • • Print and evaluate proofs, monitoring color, registration, and image quality.
  • • Examine unexposed plates or print media to detect flaws or contamination before production.
  • • Verify finished plates or output match specifications, using light boxes, loupes, or microscopes.
  • • Select appropriate plates, media, and device settings based on run length and process.
  • • Analyze artwork for color density, highlights, midtones, and shadows using densitometers or spectrophotometers.
  • • Configure scanners or capture devices for resolution, size, color space, screening, and exposure.
  • • Scale and crop artwork for reductions, enlargements, and bleeds using proportion tools or software.
  • • Generate soft and hard proofs to simulate the final printed or digital piece.
  • • Proofread and perform quality control on text, images, and layout.
  • • Preflight fonts, graphics, color profiles, links, and bleeds to ensure complete, print-ready files.
