Process undeliverable-as-addressed and forwarded mail for USPS. Examine, research, and mark up mailpieces for forwarding, return, or disposal; operate PARS/CFS terminals and labeling equipment; key and update forwarding records; apply endorsements and labels; prepare dispatches and maintain logs; and coordinate with carriers and processing centers in compliance with USPS policies.
- • Route mailpieces via PARS/CFS based on active forwarding orders and USPS rules.
- • Bundle and label forwarded and return-to-sender mail for dispatch per deadlines and complete dispatch records.
- • Train new clerks on forwarding systems, markup procedures, and privacy requirements.
- • Distribute UAA mail and change-of-address forms to appropriate units or carrier routes.
- • Operate PARS/CFS terminals, barcode scanners, OCR equipment, and label printers; key forwarding orders and corrections.
- • Research addresses using AMS, NCOA data, and directory tools to resolve exceptions.
- • Clear jams and restart forwarding, labeling, and conveyance equipment.
- • Verify address legibility, forwarding eligibility and time limits, postage due, and required endorsements.
- • Open, stage, and label trays, tubs, and sacks for forwarded, RTS, and nixie mail streams.
- • Rewrap or sleeve damaged pieces before applying forwarding or return labels.
- • Move trays and sacks of forwarded/UAA mail using carts, pallet jacks, or powered equipment.
- • Hand sort odd-sized or exception pieces and segregate items requiring manual markup or special handling.
- • Load and unload dispatch containers for forwarded and returned mail.
- • Hand-endorse and date-stamp items when system labels or endorsements cannot be applied.
