Description
Sell and distribute automotive parts and accessories in a dealership, repair shop, or auto parts store; identify parts, process orders, and support technicians and retail customers.
  • • Use OEM and aftermarket catalogs/EPCs to look up part numbers, pricing, and fitment by VIN or year/make/model.
  • • Identify required replacement parts from vehicle inspections, customer requests, or symptom descriptions.
  • • Receive and fill counter, phone, and online automotive parts orders.
  • • Prepare invoices, work order parts lines, pick tickets, and sales receipts.
  • • Process payments and obtain credit or account authorizations.
  • • Recommend equivalent, upgraded, or remanufactured parts when OEM items are unavailable; explain fitment and warranty impacts.
  • • Inspect and process returns and warranty parts; exchange, credit, or refund per policy.
  • • Bin, label, and shelve parts using the store’s bin location system.
  • • Explain part functions, compatibility, and basic installation considerations to customers and technicians.
  • • Demonstrate tools, accessories, or equipment when appropriate.
  • • Merchandise and replenish retail displays and promotional end caps.
  • • Measure or compare parts with calipers, micrometers, or gauges to verify fit or identify alternatives.
  • • Perform minor assembly or testing such as wiper blade assembly, battery testing, or headlamp bulb fit verification.
  • • Fill orders from stock and place special orders; provide ETAs and track backorders.
  • • Resolve customer issues and update customers and technicians on order status.
  • • Conduct cycle counts; locate, label, and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • • Arrange pickup and delivery of parts to shops or customers; manage driver routes.
  • • Maintain a clean, safe parts counter, stockroom, and shipping/receiving area.
  • • Prepare shipments, select carriers, quote shipping costs, and track packages; handle core returns.
