Description
Fabricate, grind, edge, and polish ophthalmic lenses and other precision optics; assemble lenses into frames; operate surfacing, coating, and finishing equipment; and verify products meet prescription specifications.
- • Review prescriptions and work orders to determine lens material, power, and finish requirements.
- • Select lens blanks, blocks, tools, laps, pads, and wheels according to specifications.
- • Center and block lenses to prescribed PDs, optical centers, and heights.
- • Generate curves and surface lenses to required base curves and thickness.
- • Polish lenses to required finish and clarity.
- • Set up and operate tracers, blockers, generators, polishers, edgers, and related lab equipment.
- • Edge and bevel lenses to fit traced frame shapes and dimensions.
- • Mount, align, and secure finished lenses in frames or optical assemblies.
- • Assemble frames and attach nose pads, screws, shields, and temple pieces.
- • Position and adjust cutting tools to specified curvature, dimensions, and depth of cut.
- • Control and monitor hard coat, UV, and anti-reflective coating equipment.
- • Tint or dye lenses and immerse frames to harden, soften, or color as needed.
- • Inspect blanks and finished lenses for defects and verify power, axis, prism, thickness, and alignment using precision instruments.
- • Clean, deblock, and finish lenses and eyewear using approved solvents and cloths.
- • Repair and adjust frames, including soldering or hardware replacement.
- • Remove lenses from molds and stage parts for further processing or storage.
- • Maintain and calibrate equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and document production and QC results.
- • Package and label completed orders for shipment and maintain work area safety and compliance.
