Description
Edge, bevel, drill, groove, and polish ophthalmic lenses, then assemble and mount them into frames. Perform final inspection, adjustments, tinting, and quality control to meet prescriptions and lab standards.
- • Review prescriptions and work orders to determine edging, drilling, grooving, and mounting specs.
- • Trace frames or demo lenses and mark optical centers and axes.
- • Mount and secure lenses in edger, groover, or drill fixtures.
- • Adjust frames and lenses to correct alignment, PD, and axis.
- • Select stock or surfaced lenses, blocks, pads, screws, and tooling per job specs.
- • Set up and operate edgers to bevel, edge, groove, and drill lenses to size and shape.
- • Adjust tooling for bevel type, size, hole placement, and groove depth.
- • Shape and safety bevel lens edges for insertion into frames.
- • Mount, secure, and align finished lenses in frames using precision hand tools.
- • Assemble frames and attach or replace nose pads, shields, and temple pieces.
- • Inspect lenses and finished eyewear for defects and conformance using lensometers and gauges.
- • Clean and polish lenses and frames; remove residue and adhesives.
- • Heat and adjust frames; tint lenses to prescribed colors.
- • Repair or replace broken frame parts using hand tools and soldering irons.
- • Label, document, and package finished eyewear for delivery.
