Perform field operations, surveillance testing, equipment isolations, and radiological controls while coordinating with the control room, maintenance, and radiation protection. Ensure procedural adherence, configuration control, and readiness for abnormal and emergency events.
- • Adhere to nuclear operating procedures and environmental, health, and safety standards.
- • Conduct surveillance tests and field rounds to verify system operability and safety limits.
- • Monitor reactor and balance-of-plant parameters to detect abnormalities and maintenance needs.
- • Perform routine equipment tests and lineups to confirm proper operation.
- • Execute system start-ups, shutdowns, and turnovers per approved procedures.
- • Apply and clear tags/lockouts to isolate equipment for maintenance.
- • Follow radiological control procedures and ALARA practices to protect personnel.
- • Survey work areas, equipment, and materials with radiation detection instruments.
- • Brief workers on radiological hazards and establish boundaries and postings.
- • Collect and handle air, water, gas, and solid samples for radiological analysis.
- • Identify, recommend, and implement appropriate decontamination methods for equipment and areas.
- • Decontaminate tools, equipment, and surfaces using approved cleaning or abrasion techniques.
- • Record, trend, and report operating data, equipment status, and anomalies.
- • Calculate and verify operating parameters such as dose, flow, pressure, temperature, and radiation times using approved methods.
- • Install, test, and calibrate radiation monitors and alarms to ensure detection accuracy.
- • Coordinate work windows, clearances, and system readiness with Maintenance, Engineering, and Radiation Protection.
