Description
Assess and manage hair and scalp health by performing trichological evaluations, delivering non-medical treatments, and advising on care and products. Monitor hair loss conditions, educate clients, and coordinate referrals with dermatologists when medical treatment is needed.
- • Conduct comprehensive consultations and collect medical, lifestyle, and hair-care histories.
- • Examine scalp and hair using trichoscopy and microscopy to assess density, miniaturization, and scalp condition.
- • Perform hair pull, tug, and wash tests to evaluate shedding and breakage.
- • Identify likely hair and scalp disorders and explain findings and options to clients.
- • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans and home-care regimens.
- • Provide non-medical scalp therapies, such as exfoliation, therapeutic massage, and steaming.
- • Apply over-the-counter or clinic-approved topical treatments and instruct on proper use.
- • Recommend hair and scalp care products, nutraceuticals, and cosmetic camouflage solutions.
- • Fit, style, or advise on wigs, toppers, and hair systems for coverage.
- • Educate clients on nutrition, stress management, and grooming practices that impact hair health.
- • Monitor progress with standardized photos, trichometric measurements, and client-reported outcomes.
- • Maintain accurate client records, consent forms, and treatment notes.
- • Adhere to sanitation and infection-control protocols; clean and disinfect tools and equipment.
- • Schedule appointments and manage follow-ups and treatment calendars.
- • Operate point-of-sale systems and handle payments.
- • Collaborate with or refer clients to dermatologists or other healthcare providers when medical evaluation is indicated.
- • Recognize red flags for contagious or systemic conditions and advise prompt medical care.
- • Train or supervise clinic assistants and junior staff in trichology protocols.
- • Order, stock, and maintain treatment and retail supplies.
- • Stay current on trichology research, devices, and techniques through continuing education.
- • Comply with local regulations and scope-of-practice requirements.
- • Conduct patch tests for product sensitivities when indicated.
