Description
Measure and model the Earth's surface using GNSS, satellite observations, LiDAR, and other geodetic methods to establish accurate positions, elevations, and control networks for engineering, mapping, and construction.
- • Review standards, controls, and equipment and recommend changes or upgrades as needed.
- • Train staff in methods for observing and checking controls for geodetic and plane coordinates.
- • Plan and direct geodetic survey work, providing technical consultation as needed.
- • Distribute compiled geodetic data to agencies and the public.
- • Stay current with technology, equipment, and systems through study and professional activities.
- • Verify the mathematical correctness and integrity of newly collected survey data.
- • Request additional survey data when field errors occur or specifications are not met.
- • Prepare progress and technical reports.
- • Maintain databases of coordinates, metadata, and QA/QC information.
- • Compute, retrace, and adjust existing surveys to align with geodetic grids, elevation-dependent grids, and property boundaries.
- • Compute horizontal and vertical coordinates of control networks using leveling, triangulation, trilateration, and traversing.
- • Determine exact horizontal and vertical positions of points on the Earth's surface.
- • Analyze control and survey data for compliance with project specifications and land survey standards.
- • Assess control data quality and define needs for supplemental data for engineering and construction projects.
- • Determine orientation, position, boundaries, size, and shape of tracts using theodolites, electronic distance-measuring equipment, GNSS, and other geodetic tools.
- • Conduct surveys to measure positions, elevations, lines, areas, volumes, contours, and other land surface features.
