Directly supervise and coordinate laundry operations and staff in hotels, hospitals, and commercial facilities, ensuring safe, efficient processing, quality standards, and timely distribution of linens and uniforms.
  • • Direct infection control laundry procedures to prevent the spread of pathogens.
  • • Inspect laundered items for cleanliness, stains, damage, and finishing standards.
  • • Plan and prepare laundry staff schedules and shift assignments.
  • • Perform or assist with washing, drying, folding, pressing, and distribution as needed.
  • • Investigate complaints about laundry service, turnaround, or equipment, and take corrective action.
  • • Coordinate pickups and deliveries with nursing, housekeeping, front office, and external clients to meet par levels and timelines.
  • • Inspect facilities, equipment, and linen inventory to determine work priorities and required processing.
  • • Select appropriate detergents, bleaches, softeners, and stain treatments for various fabrics and colors.
  • • Instruct staff in laundry procedures, safety, infection control, and equipment operation and maintenance.
  • • Issue uniforms, linens, chemicals, and tools to workers and track usage.
  • • Forecast staffing needs, linen par levels, and chemical stock to support scheduling and ordering.
  • • Inventory linens, uniforms, detergents, and parts to maintain adequate levels.
  • • Evaluate employee performance and recommend promotions, coaching, transfers, or terminations.
  • • Confer with staff to resolve performance or attendance issues and communicate policy updates.
  • • Establish and enforce SOPs for sorting, washing, drying, finishing, and distribution.
  • • Arrange repairs, preventive maintenance, or replacement of washers, dryers, ironers, boilers, and presses.
  • • Select and purchase new laundry equipment, parts, chemicals, and supplies.
  • • Recommend process improvements to enhance quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • • Maintain records of hours worked, loads processed, chemical usage, costs, and payroll.
  • • Screen, interview, and hire laundry attendants and leads.
  • • Supervise related services such as uniform room, valet laundry, and linen distribution.
  • • Communicate linen availability, order status, and delivery times to department managers and clients.
  • • Prepare and manage budgets, cost estimates, and vendor contracts for laundry operations.
  • • Prepare reports on volumes, quality metrics, equipment downtime, labor hours, and expenses.
  • • Check and maintain laundry equipment, carts, and safety devices to ensure safe working order.
  • • Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire, and environmental regulations, including safe handling and storage of chemicals.
