Description
Use non-linear editing systems to organize, assemble, and polish video projects. Collaborate with directors and producers to shape story and pacing, sync and mix audio, integrate graphics and effects, and deliver final masters in required formats.
- • Ingest and organize footage, audio, and graphics; manage bins, metadata, and proxies.
- • Review scripts and creative briefs to understand story, tone, and deliverable specs.
- • Assemble selects and string-outs; build rough cuts and fine cuts in the timeline.
- • Cut between angles and takes to maintain continuity, pacing, and narrative clarity.
- • Sync dailies and align audio to picture using timecode, waveforms, or slates.
- • Mark and trim clips precisely; set in/out points and perform ripple, roll, and slide trims.
- • Select and combine the strongest shots to create smooth, logical sequences.
- • Integrate music, dialogue, voiceover, and sound effects; balance and clean audio.
- • Determine and apply appropriate visual effects, transitions, and motion graphics.
- • Create and edit titles, lower thirds, captions, and credits.
- • Apply basic color correction, matching, and LUTs to ensure visual consistency.
- • Verify frame rates, key numbers, and timecodes; maintain sync and continuity notes.
- • Program and render digital video effects within the NLE or companion tools.
- • Collaborate with directors and producers on edit approaches and revisions.
- • Manage multicam edits; switch angles and assemble live-cut style timelines.
- • Export review cuts and finals; version and archive projects per standards.
- • Conform timelines and prepare EDL/AAF/XML for mix, grade, or VFX turnovers.
- • Conduct edit reviews and screenings; collect and implement feedback.
- • Coordinate with music editors and sound teams to refine score and sound design.
- • Supervise or support assistant editors and post-production workflows as needed.
- • Ensure quality control of picture and sound; correct errors before delivery.
- • Prepare deliverables in required codecs, aspect ratios, captions, and platforms.
- • Maintain backups and media integrity across storage systems.
