Description
Edit and shape narrative films from dailies to final cut, collaborating with the director and producers to build story, pace, and emotion. Assemble picture, synchronize and refine sound, and guide post-production through picture lock to deliver a seamless, compelling film.
  • • Cut shot sequences and angles for seamless continuity and pacing.
  • • Review scripts and shot lists to understand story, tone, and requirements.
  • • Edit films to assemble scenes, insert temp music/dialogue/SFX, and correct errors using NLE systems.
  • • Select the strongest takes to build clear, compelling story arcs.
  • • Mark precise edit points and sound cues using timecode.
  • • Identify needed VFX, sound design, and music; create temp tracks as references.
  • • Verify key numbers, timecodes, and metadata on dailies and exports.
  • • Organize dailies and assemble rough cuts per script and director’s notes.
  • • Screen cuts, gather feedback, and implement revisions through to picture lock.
  • • Place temp graphics and titles; coordinate with VFX teams for finals.
  • • Review all footage to assess coverage, performance, and options.
  • • Set up and operate Avid/Premiere/Resolve, titling tools, and conform workflows.
  • • Source and cut temp ADR, ambience, and effects from libraries.
  • • Collaborate with the director and producers on structure, tone, and pacing.
  • • Integrate picture, music, and sound to create a cohesive cut with post teams.
  • • Lead and mentor assistant editors; manage turnovers and post schedules.
  • • Trim scenes to timing targets while maximizing emotional impact.
  • • Plan and maintain post-production workflows, naming, and versioning standards.
  • • Build temp soundtracks to support narrative and rhythm.
  • • Organize internal screenings and reviews with stakeholders.
  • • Collaborate with composers and music editors on temp and final cues.
  • • Coordinate sound needs and turnovers with dialogue, ADR, and FX editors.
