Description
Edit and assemble news video and related media for broadcast and digital platforms. Work with producers, reporters, and directors to structure accurate, engaging segments under tight deadlines. Sync and mix audio, add graphics and captions, and ensure editorial, technical, and legal compliance.
- • Cut shot sequences and b-roll at precise points to keep packages, VOs, and teases fluid and seamless.
- • Review scripts, rundowns, and shot lists to understand editorial goals and timing.
- • Edit news packages to insert VO, SOTs, nat sound, and music, correcting errors as needed.
- • Select and combine the strongest clips and sound bites to tell a clear, factual story.
- • Mark in/out points, beats, and captions for each element.
- • Determine required graphics, lower-thirds, maps, and sound elements to complete segments.
- • Verify timecodes, labels, and metadata on feeds and footage.
- • Assemble raw feeds and reporter tracks into a cohesive story per scripts or producer direction.
- • Screen finished edits to identify and correct technical or editorial issues.
- • Create and cue lower-thirds, full-screen graphics, and simple motion elements using templates.
- • Log footage and transcripts to identify key moments before assembly.
- • Operate NLEs, titling systems, ingest servers, and playout tools to deliver final assets.
- • Source or capture nat sound and stingers from approved libraries.
- • Collaborate with producers, reporters, and directors on structure, pacing, and emphasis.
- • Balance story, sound, and graphics to form a cohesive whole aligned with newsroom standards.
- • Coordinate assistants or ingest operators during breaking news and special coverage.
- • Trim segments to slot times and program clocks without losing essential context.
- • Maintain and refine post-production workflows, presets, and style guides for news output.
- • Mix dialogue, VO, SOTs, and nat sound for clarity and compliance with loudness standards.
- • Present rough cuts to producers and anchors, incorporating notes quickly.
- • Work with legal and editorial teams to ensure rights, attribution, and ethical compliance.
- • Prepare platform-specific versions, captions, and aspect ratios for broadcast, web, and social.
