Description
Provide subject-matter expertise and outreach through the Cooperative Extension system. Translate research into practical recommendations, develop and evaluate educational programs, and train Extension educators and stakeholders. Focus areas may include crop and livestock systems, pest management, food safety, nutrition, financial management, and family development.
- • Collaborate with producers and county agents to diagnose and prevent production and management problems.
- • Deliver workshops, webinars, and in-service trainings on agriculture, food systems, and home management topics.
- • Provide evidence-based recommendations and demonstrations on livestock health, crop production, and enterprise budgeting.
- • Respond to client and agent inquiries with current research and practical resources.
- • Develop Extension publications, fact sheets, curricula, and visual or digital learning materials.
- • Conduct needs assessments and analyze data to set program priorities.
- • Track activities, outcomes, and impacts; prepare reports and grant proposals.
- • Provide field consultations and on-site visits to farms and community sites.
- • Organize and support community events, field days, and youth programs such as fairs and 4-H.
- • Partner with agencies and health or social service professionals on nutrition, budgeting, and family resource education.
- • Plan and evaluate on-farm trials and demonstrations of new practices, products, or services.
- • Lead or collaborate on applied research; analyze results and publish Extension reports and bulletins.
- • Advocate for clientele needs and represent Extension on advisory boards and committees.
- • Facilitate technical services such as sample collection, decision-support tools, and referrals to markets and service providers.
- • Set program goals and metrics; monitor progress, quality, and impact.
