Description
Deliver research-based education and technical assistance through Cooperative Extension to farmers, families, and community groups. Plan, deliver, and evaluate outreach programs in agriculture, natural resources, nutrition, budgeting, and youth development. Translate university research into practical recommendations, lead demonstrations, and connect clients with resources and services.
- • Collaborate with producers to diagnose and prevent production and management problems.
- • Teach workshops and classes on farming techniques, nutrition, budgeting, and home management.
- • Provide on-site consultations and demonstrations on livestock care, crop production, and farm financial planning.
- • Research client questions and deliver evidence-based recommendations.
- • Develop and distribute fact sheets, curricula, and online educational materials.
- • Assess community needs and use data to plan and prioritize programs.
- • Maintain program records, evaluations, and impact reports.
- • Make regular farm, garden, and home visits to provide technical assistance.
- • Organize and support community events and youth programs, including fairs and 4-H, and manage volunteers.
- • Coordinate with health, social service, and school partners on family and consumer education.
- • Lead field demonstrations and trials of new practices, technologies, or services.
- • Support applied research projects, analyze results, and share findings with stakeholders.
- • Advocate for client needs and connect them with agency and university resources.
- • Provide direct assistance such as soil and forage sampling, marketing education, and resource referrals.
- • Help clients set goals and track progress toward production, financial, or health outcomes.
