Description
Teach undergraduate or graduate environmental science courses as a part-time, contract instructor; develop and deliver lectures, labs, and assessments; supervise course-related field and laboratory activities; maintain student records and hold office hours; collaborate with faculty on curriculum and assessment. Research and service are limited and typically optional or assigned.
  • • Prepare syllabi, lectures, labs, and assignments for assigned environmental science courses.
  • • Evaluate and grade coursework, labs, projects, and examinations with timely feedback.
  • • Compile, administer, proctor, and grade exams, including online assessments.
  • • Maintain attendance, grades, and required records in the learning management system.
  • • Hold scheduled office hours to advise and assist students on course matters.
  • • Supervise and ensure safety in student laboratory and field activities.
  • • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom and online discussions.
  • • Plan, evaluate, and revise course content and teaching methods to meet outcomes.
  • • Curate bibliographies and supplemental resources for outside reading.
  • • Keep current with developments in the field through literature and professional engagement.
  • • Collaborate with course coordinators and colleagues on curriculum alignment and assessment.
  • • Select and request textbooks, software, and laboratory supplies within departmental guidelines.
  • • Submit midterm and final grades by institutional deadlines.
  • • Address academic integrity issues and follow institutional policies and procedures.
  • • Provide letters of recommendation for students when appropriate.
  • • Advise students on academic pathways and career options related to environmental science as time allows.
  • • Participate in required trainings, orientations, and occasional department meetings.
  • • Contribute data and reflections for program and course assessment as assigned.
  • • Support recruitment or outreach activities when requested and available.
  • • Adapt instruction for diverse learners and coordinate accommodations with disability services.
  • • Use digital tools to deliver online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction.
  • • Engage in limited scholarship or professional practice to inform teaching, as approved.
