Description
Install, terminate, test, and service low-voltage cabling and systems including structured cabling, fiber, CCTV, access control, fire alarm, intercom, and AV, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, and TIA standards.
  • • Pull, route, and secure Cat6/Cat6A, coax, and fiber in ceilings, walls, and raceways.
  • • Terminate copper cabling to jacks, patch panels, and 66/110 blocks.
  • • Splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cable with fusion splicers and OTDRs.
  • • Install and dress racks, cabinets, ladder tray, and cable management hardware.
  • • Mount and connect CCTV cameras, card readers, keypads, speakers, and Wi-Fi access points.
  • • Install and program access control panels and door hardware.
  • • Install, wire, and program fire alarm panels, notification, and initiating devices per NFPA 72.
  • • Configure and aim IP cameras, NVRs, and VMS software.
  • • Install and configure intercom, paging, and audio-visual systems.
  • • Label, document, and certify cabling to TIA standards.
  • • Perform continuity and performance testing with certifiers, multimeters, and toners.
  • • Troubleshoot and repair faults in cabling, terminations, and field devices.
  • • Read and interpret blueprints, risers, and wiring diagrams to plan work.
  • • Lay out pathways and install conduit, surface raceway, or cable tray for low-voltage.
  • • Connect power supplies, PoE switches, and UPS units to system equipment.
  • • Ensure compliance with NEC Articles 725/760/800, AHJ rules, and manufacturer specs.
  • • Coordinate with IT staff, general contractors, and other trades on site.
  • • Maintain current low-voltage licenses or certifications (e.g., state LV, NICET, BICSI).
  • • Lead or train helpers on installation practices and safety.
  • • Prepare takeoffs, as-builts, test results, and service reports.
  • • Work safely on ladders and lifts and in confined ceilings.
  • • Provide after-hours or emergency service support.
