Description
Plan, develop, execute, and automate tests to verify and validate electrical equipment, components, or systems meet specifications, standards, and safety requirements; analyze results, drive root cause and corrective actions, and support manufacturing and installation through qualification and compliance testing.
- • Confer with engineers, customers, and stakeholders to define test requirements, acceptance criteria, and schedules.
- • Design and implement test methods, fixtures, and environments for electrical products and systems.
- • Operate test automation, simulation, and data acquisition software and equipment to conduct and analyze tests.
- • Coordinate verification, validation, reliability, environmental, EMC, and safety testing for compliance with codes and customer requirements.
- • Perform calculations for test coverage, measurement uncertainty, tolerance analysis, and pass/fail limits.
- • Plan and document test methodologies and procedures applying electrical theory, statistics, and DOE.
- • Prepare specifications for purchasing and calibrating test equipment, instrumentation, and fixtures.
- • Train and supervise technicians or team members in test procedures, instrumentation, and safety.
- • Evaluate and benchmark vendors’ or competitors’ products through structured testing.
- • Manage test schedules, resources, and risks to meet milestones and budget.
- • Develop test setups, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation plans to ensure accurate measurements.
- • Support capital planning for new test labs, equipment, and major upgrades.
- • Compile, analyze, and visualize test data; write reports with findings and recommendations.
- • Collect field performance data to assess efficiency, reliability, and degradation of electrical systems.
- • Conduct site tests and troubleshooting to identify and resolve power and system issues.
- • Validate energy efficiency and power quality performance of designs and installations.
- • Develop and execute test protocols for renewable energy systems and grid interconnection compliance.
- • Integrate test systems with simulators or HIL to emulate operating conditions and improve coverage.
- • Estimate test effort, equipment needs, and labor costs for planning and budgeting.
- • Investigate customer or field complaints; reproduce issues and perform root cause and corrective action testing.
- • Witness and inspect FAT/SAT and completed installations to verify conformance to design and safety standards.
- • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and data acquisition or control software.
