Description
Researches, designs, develops, tests, and oversees the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, and systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific applications.
  • • Collaborate with engineers, customers, and stakeholders on current or proposed projects and products.
  • • Design, implement, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, and systems for commercial, industrial, or residential use.
  • • Use CAD/CAE tools and related equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • • Coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, documentation, and testing to meet specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • • Perform detailed calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
  • • Plan and execute research methods to apply electrical theory to projects.
  • • Prepare specifications for material and equipment procurement.
  • • Supervise and mentor project team members as needed.
  • • Evaluate and test vendor and competitor products.
  • • Oversee project execution to deliver on time and within budget.
  • • Prepare technical drawings and system specifications to ensure installations meet standards and client requirements.
  • • Support development of capital project plans for new equipment and major repairs.
  • • Compile data and write reports on existing or proposed electrical engineering studies and projects.
  • • Collect and analyze data on development, demand, and interconnections to assess electrical system efficiency.
  • • Conduct field surveys and analyze maps, diagrams, and data to diagnose and correct power system issues.
  • • Design systems and components that minimize energy use, such as daylight-responsive lighting.
  • • Develop power systems using renewable sources such as wind, solar, or biofuels.
  • • Integrate electrical and renewable energy systems to improve overall efficiency.
  • • Estimate labor, material, and construction costs for budgets.
  • • Investigate customer or public complaints to determine problems and corrective actions.
  • • Inspect installations and observe operations to verify conformance with design, safety, and environmental standards.
  • • Develop control software for electrical systems.
