Description
Design and conduct empirical and theoretical economic research to explain markets and evaluate policies. Build and apply econometric models, collect and process data, and produce publications and briefings that inform decisions on production, distribution, and monetary or fiscal policy.
  • • Study economic and statistical data in a specialization and identify research questions.
  • • Advise policymakers, executives, and agencies on implications of research findings.
  • • Compile, clean, and analyze datasets; estimate econometric models; report results and forecasts.
  • • Develop evidence-based recommendations and policy evaluations using causal inference and cost-benefit analysis.
  • • Develop modeling frameworks, assumptions, and data standards for forecasting and policy analysis.
  • • Present expert testimony or briefings at regulatory or legislative hearings.
  • • Lead research projects and mentor research assistants or students.
  • • Produce macroeconomic and sectoral forecasts and scenario analyses.
  • • Present findings at academic seminars, conferences, and internal briefings.
  • • Provide litigation support, including expert reports and expert witness testimony.
  • • Assess socioeconomic impacts of proposed or enacted policies, taxes, services, and regulations.
  • • Conduct original research and disseminate results via working papers, peer-reviewed articles, and policy briefs.
  • • Translate complex economic results for nontechnical audiences and the media.
  • • Peer-review and validate models, analyses, and documents produced by others.
