Description
Inspect, diagnose, and repair damaged or ill-fitting dental appliances—primarily dentures and other removable devices—by replacing components, relining or rebasing, adjusting occlusion, and restoring form and finish according to prescriptions and lab standards.
- • Read repair prescriptions and examine damaged appliances, models, or impressions to determine required work.
- • Repair, refurbish, and adjust dentures, partials, retainers, night guards, and other removable appliances.
- • Test repaired appliances for fit, occlusion, and conformance to specifications using articulators and micrometers.
- • Mount casts on articulators to assess and correct bite relationships.
- • Mix and cure repair acrylics, resins, or composites; pour models as needed to stabilize repairs.
- • Prepare and clean metal frameworks for bonding, soldering, or welding to ensure adhesion.
- • Remove excess material and finish repaired areas; buff and polish to restore surface and contour.
- • Pour dental impressions to create working models required for repairs or relines.
- • Cure acrylic repairs in pressure pots or ovens; re-glaze porcelain when specified.
- • Replace missing or broken denture teeth and shade-match replacements.
- • Apply and shape acrylic or composite to fill fractures, chips, or voids.
- • Perform denture relines and rebases, including processing, trimming, and finishing.
- • Contour borders and flanges to improve comfort and retention after repairs.
- • Train or supervise dental appliance repair technicians or bench workers.
- • Rebuild or replace clasps, wire sections, hinges, or liners to restore function of partial dentures.
