Description
Prepare and file customs entries and supporting documents to ensure imported goods comply with all laws and are released promptly. Classify merchandise, calculate duties and taxes, and submit payments on behalf of clients under an authorized power of attorney. Communicate with CBP and partner government agencies, resolve holds, and coordinate release, delivery, and storage of cargo.
  • • Prepare and file ISF, entry, and entry summary data in ACE.
  • • Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
  • • Calculate duties, taxes, and fees owed on shipments.
  • • Quote estimated duties, taxes, and fees to clients.
  • • Request, review, and compile import documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin).
  • • Verify valuation, country of origin, and admissibility per regulations.
  • • Submit PGA filings (FDA, USDA, EPA, FWS) as required.
  • • Obtain cargo releases and line releases for eligible shipments.
  • • Monitor shipment status and trace cargo to final release.
  • • Arrange ACH payment of duties and fees and reconcile PMS statements.
  • • Respond to CBP holds, exams, rejections, and CF 28/29 requests.
  • • Prepare protests, PSCs, and duty refund or drawback support as directed.
  • • Maintain entry files and records per CBP retention rules.
  • • Advise clients on documentation requirements, tariff options, and compliance.
  • • Assist in obtaining and managing continuous or single-entry bonds.
  • • Coordinate with carriers, forwarders, terminals, and warehouses for pickup and delivery.
  • • Ensure accurate product descriptions, tariff numbers, and special program claims.
  • • Stay current on customs regulations, rulings, and PGA updates.
  • • Prepare delivery orders and release notices to stakeholders.
  • • Support post-entry audits and reconciliation programs.
  • • Escalate complex classification or valuation issues to licensed brokers.
  • • Sign customs documents as authorized under a power of attorney.
  • • Maintain relationships with brokers and officials at other ports to expedite releases.
