Description
Prepare and file customs documents to ensure compliant import and export of goods. Calculate duties and taxes, process payments for clients, and sign under power of attorney. Represent clients with customs and partner agencies, pursue duty refunds and tariff reclassifications, and coordinate transportation and storage.
  • • Sign documents for clients under a power of attorney.
  • • Advise on transportation options, carriers, and routes.
  • • Post import bonds or help clients obtain them.
  • • Arrange cargo insurance against loss, damage, or theft.
  • • Obtain line releases for frequent, low-risk shipments.
  • • Contract with freight forwarders for destination services.
  • • Arrange transportation, warehousing, and distribution of goods.
  • • Recommend packaging and labeling methods for compliance.
  • • Gather and submit import documents such as invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo-control forms.
  • • Stay current on import and export laws and regulations.
  • • Quote duty and tax rates based on applicable tariffs and excise taxes.
  • • Pay, or arrange payment of, duties and taxes on shipments.
  • • Track and trace shipments and resolve delays.
  • • Maintain relationships with brokers, carriers, and port officials to expedite clearance.
  • • Advise importers and exporters on lawful steps to reduce duties and taxes.
  • • Coordinate with customs and partner agencies to clear and release goods.
  • • Classify goods under the tariff coding system.
  • • Calculate duties, tariffs, and fees owed on entries.
  • • Apply for tariff concessions, duty drawbacks, and other refunds.
  • • Advise clients on restrictions, quotas, insurance requirements, and other customs matters.
  • • Prepare and file import and export entries in accordance with regulations.
  • • Clear goods through customs and arrange final delivery.
  • • Prepare appeals of duty assessments.
