Description
Operate stenotype equipment to capture, translate, and transcribe spoken content verbatim in real time or from recordings for legal, broadcast, and public events; ensure accurate, formatted transcripts and secure data management.
- • Operate a stenotype or shorthand machine to capture speech verbatim.
- • Use CAT software to translate steno strokes into readable text.
- • Provide real-time captions or on-screen text when requested.
- • Ask speakers to repeat or clarify inaudible or overlapping statements.
- • Transcribe and format proceedings according to client or industry standards.
- • Proofread transcripts for spelling, punctuation, and speaker identification.
- • Verify transcript accuracy against audio or source recordings.
- • Deliver transcripts to clients, attorneys, producers, or agencies.
- • Set up, test, and maintain stenotype, audio, and captioning equipment.
- • Manage and archive steno notes, audio files, and transcripts securely.
- • Record depositions, hearings, meetings, and broadcasts as assigned.
- • Provide read-backs or scrollbacks of previously recorded text upon request.
- • Maintain and update personal dictionaries and software settings for accuracy.
